ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE (A.S.) DEGREE ::

 

The Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree at Arkansas Northeastern College is designed for students who wish to complete the first two years of a baccalaureate degree and transfer to a senior institution.  The coursework for this degree provides a broad general education component and a concentration in a specific area of study.

 

Institutional Learning Outcomes

General education is the broad knowledge, skills, and attitudes that all graduates of ANC should possess.  For the AA Degree, all the general education core courses are approved for inclusion in the Arkansas Department of Higher Education's Course Transfer System (ACTS).  ACTS provides information regarding the guaranteed transfer of courses between Arkansas public colleges and universities and is located on ADHE's website.

Associate of Science - Business

The Associate of Science in Business Degree is designed for students who wish to complete the first two years of a business-related bachelor’s degree and then transfer to a four-year college or university. This degree program includes both general education courses and core business courses. The Associate of Science in Business Degree requires successful completion of 64 credit hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. Students pursuing this degree must satisfy all remediation and prerequisite course requirements in addition to the courses listed below. The following sequencing of courses is recommended for full-time students who have completed all prerequisites. Many individuals, especially part-time students and those taking college preparatory courses will require additional semesters of study. Consult with your advisor each semester to determine an appropriate schedule.

Program Outcomes

  • Apply financial and managerial accounting tools and techniques to report and interpret the financial results of a business operation to external and internal stakeholders.

  • Evaluate the economic choices that individuals, businesses, and government make and the way these choices interact to influence the national and global economy.

  • Apply the basic principles of law governing business ownership and commerce under the American legal systems.

  • Apply statistical analysis concepts to make better decisions under conditions of uncertainty.

  • Generate business correspondence and reports.

 

 

Associate of Science - Childhood Education - Elementary Education (K-6)

AS CHILDHOOD EDUCATION - ELEMENTARY EDUCATION (K-6) DEGREE PLAN

This two-year Associate of Science Degree in Childhood Education is designed for the student who is interested in transferring to a senior institution and completing a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at the kindergarten through sixth grade level. This program combines a broad background of courses in elementary education with a concentration in specific areas of emphasis in addition to a sound liberal arts education.

Program Outcomes:

  • Apply knowledge of child growth and learning and on-site observations to explain how the teacher and environment affect a child's cognitive, affective and physical domains.

  • Apply and incorporate knowledge of special education laws and services to develop strategies that promotes an inclusive classroom for children who qualify for special education services.

  • Use field/personal experiences and learned knowledge to construct a philosophy of education paper.

 

 

Associate of Science - Childhood Education - Mid-Level Education

AS CHILDHOOD EDUCATION - MID-LEVEL EDUCATION DEGREE PLAN

This two-year Associate of Science Degree in Childhood Education is designed for the student who is interested in transferring to a senior institution and completing a Bachelor of Science in Middle Level Education (Grades 4-8). This program combines a broad background of courses in elementary education with a concentration in specific areas of emphasis in addition to a sound liberal arts education.
