Testing Center Information

In an effort to accommodate the needs of our students and the community, Arkansas Northeastern College (ANC) offers a variety of testing options. We have a well-trained knowledgeable staff available to assist you at all times. If you need additional information not included on this page, please contact the Testing Center at 870.762.3108.

In accordance with Section 19 of Act 1052 of 1987, all degree seeking, entering students must demonstrate mastery of basic skills in writing, reading and mathematics. ANC will accept ACT, ASSET, COMPASS, and SAT scores for placement in these subjects. All scores are valid for 5 years from the testing date. The Arkansas Department of Higher Education followed guidelines and issued cut-off scores for student placement in college level or preparatory level courses in math, English composition, and reading skills. For a copy of the score placement sheet used by ANC please call the Testing Center.

ANC offers the ASSET test on a bi-monthly basis at the main campus and the COMPASS test daily. For specific times or to make an appointment please contact Mylas Jeffers in the Testing Center.

ASSET and COMPASS are available at our Burdette and Paragould locations, for dates and times please contact those campuses directly.

In addition to the ASSET and COMPASS tests the ANC Testing Center offers the following:

  • CLEP (College Level Examination Program)- ANC students may earn up to 30 semester hours through CLEP.

  • Practice PRAXIS

  • PAX-RN- The pre-admissions nursing exam is given in both Fall and Spring semesters and is required for students who are applying to the RN program.

  • PAX-PN- The pre-admissions nursing exam is given in the Spring semester and is required for students who are applying to the Practical Nursing Program.

  • CAAP (Rising Junior)- Act 874 of 1993 of the Arkansas Legislature requires that students in Arkansas public colleges must be evaluated to measure college-level math, writing, reading and scientific reasoning skills needed to succeed at the junior level. Students enrolled at ANC in transfer degree programs must take the tests no earlier than accumulating 45 college-level credits (excluding developmental education credits) and not later than completing the College’s official application for graduation. Failure to complete this testing requirement may interrupt graduation and/or transfer plans by the student. Students eligible for CAAP testing will be notified in writing by the College, the test is given twice per year.

Proctoring Services – ANC will proctor tests for students taking correspondence courses from other accredited colleges and universities. Call in advance to set an appointment.
