  Communications and Humanities faculty/staff listing

The Communications and Humanities division has two purposes:  to offer classes for transfer to a four year institution and to offer classes of community interest.

Community interest classes include courses such as Community Choir, Community Band, Beginning Painting and Drawing, Old and New Testament Literature, and African-American Literature and History.  The division also offers sociology courses in Marriage and Family, and wellness courses in psychology that benefit the community.

The Communications and Humanities division is the largest division on campus and offers the majority of courses in the General Education program at Arkansas Northeastern College.

Classes in the fine arts, social sciences, and communications make up the division.  Students who transfer with an Associate of Arts degree will take English, History, Music, Art, Speech, Psychology, and Sociology from this division.

The Communications and Humanities division offers Performing Arts Scholarships to students who have interest and potential in Art or Music.

To qualify for these performing arts scholarships, a student does not have to major in art or music, but have the talent and desire to perform through art exhibitions and choral concerts.

Each year scholarship students exhibit their talent through choral concerts or art shows.  The music department is famous for its Christmas Concert which is performed in the new Adams/Vines Recital Hall.  Arkansas Northeastern College has three performing choirs:  the elite Arkansas Northeastern College Singers, the Community Choir, and the popular Show Choir.

To apply for a performing arts scholarship, call 870-762-1020, ext. 1166.
