ANC College Divisions
|
The Communications and Humanities division is the largest
on campus and offers the majority of courses in the General Education program at
Arkansas Northeastern College. Classes in the fine arts, social sciences, and
communications make up the division.
Students who transfer with an Associate of Arts degree will take English,
History, Music, Art, Speech, Psychology, and Sociology from this division. Community interest classes include courses such as
Community Choir, Beginning Painting and Drawing, Introduction to Heritage
Studies, Old and New Testament Literature, and African-American Literature.
The division also offers sociology courses in Marriage and Family, and
courses in psychology that benefits the community. The division also offers several events/programs geared
toward the community. This includes an annual Quiz Bowl Tournament for regional
high school students. The winning
high school team receives four scholarships to attend ANC. ANC’s Music
Department provides a wide variety of opportunities to both music majors and
non-majors alike. We have four different choirs available to students and
community members. Each ensemble features a unique configuration of voices
and offers an exciting opportunity for singers of all levels. Our ensembles
perform throughout the year with recent spring tours to St. Louis and Chicago.
You can learn more about our music department at
www.anc.edu/music . The Communications and Humanities division offers
Performing Arts Scholarships to students who have interest and potential in Art
or Music. To qualify for these performing arts scholarships, a student does not
have to major in art or music, but have the talent and desire to perform through
art exhibitions and choral concerts. To apply for a performing arts scholarship,
